Venezuela flagVENEZUELA

Venezuela is the first Spanish country entered by C&MA missionaries. In 1895 two single women began work in Caracas, the capital. In 1914, the work had to be closed, and the field was reopened in 1971. The national church today consists of nine organized churches with 1,844 inclusive members.

Alliance missionaries have been working with national pastors and leaders in their development as church leaders through the Bible Institute as well as in a church-planting effort on the Venezuelan island of Margarita. Chinese Alliance missionaries have been making several evangelistic trips there annually.

Currently, the U.S. mission team is transitioning out of Venezuela. The national church has accepted the challenge to assume responsibility for leadership development, and Chinese ministries led by the Canadian C&MA will continue work in the city of Valencia.
